Targeted shooting in PG

RCMP in Prince George are investigating what they are calling a targeted shooting although residents have been asked to stay away from the area.

Police were called at around 12:20 a.m. Friday to a parking lot near the corner of 17th Avenue and Upland Street where they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers began first aid until medical first responders arrived on the scene. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment.

“RCMP are asking the public to avoid the area ... although we do not believe there is a risk to the public,” said Cpl. Craig Douglass in a news release.

The Major Crime Section is now leading the investigation.
