AMISTAD, an alternative five-piece band from Vernon, is getting set to release its new EP "Talk Peace to a Wolf" on May 3.
At the same time, the group is sitting in the regional top 10 of the CBC Music Searchlight contest and waiting for the results. Voting ends Friday, April 29 at 11:59 p.m. PDT.
In February, Exclaim magazine premiered the band's first single "Radikal" with a positive review and the song has gone on to almost 100,000 plays.
“It kinda just took off slow and steady while climbing up Exclaim’s top trending 21,” said lead singer Aidan Andrews. “When it entered the top 10 we were blown away but then we hit number 1.
“It’s been a surreal experience thus far, and we’re only just getting started.”
“With ‘Talk Peace To A Wolf' we worked every last detail until there was literally nothing left to change," said drummer Carson Bassett. “Working with Joe Pinheiro helped us see how people outside the band would react to what we were writing and he pushed us.”
AMISTAD is hosting its new EP release show at Paddlewheel Hall on Okanagan Landing Road in Vernon on May 27.
