Four members of the Okanagan Masters Swim Club established a new Canadian short-course age-group record, at the provincial championships in Richmond.
The four members competed in the 200-metre mixed relay in the combined age group of 320-350 years.
They broke the Canadian record, finishing in a time of three minutes, 43.41 seconds.
The team consisted of Connie Stamhuis (84 – backstroke), Ross Carviel (86 – breaststroke), Betty Brussel (92 – freestyle) and the baby of the team, Tony Hoft (61 – butterfly).
Brussel also broke the B.C. 100-metre breaststroke record for her age group, 90-94.
Several other club members also captured one, or more, first place finishes in their respective age groups.
These include, Brussell, Carviel, Stamhuis, Val Newth (70), Brenda Balderson (62), John Zakala (54), Jeanette Hoft (52), Jodi Merckx (46), Christy Kirk (46), Carmelle Guidi-Swan (44), Pascal Sutherland (40) and Thomas Robinson (21).
OMSC was represented by 12 female and 6 male competitors.
