Boil water in Peachland

UPDATE MAY 5, 8:30 P.M.

As a result of a reduction in source turbidity and in consultation with the Interior Health Authority, The District of Peachland has downgraded the boil water notice to a water quality advisory.

This change in water quality rating is effective immediately.

While the associated health risks are minimal, Interior Health recommends that children, the elderly, people with weakened immune systems and anyone seeking additional protection drink boiled water or a safe alternative until further notice.

For those at-risk populations, water intended for drinking, washing fruits or vegetables, making juice or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled for one minute.

The original notice was issued in early April.

A boil-water advisory has been issued for Peachland residents.

"Interior Health recommends that all customers drink boiled water or a safe alternative until further notice," said Linda Nicholas, operations clerk at the District of Peachland. "Water intended for drinking, washing fruits or vegetables, making juice or ice, or brushing teeth should be boiled for at least one minute."

She said the turbidity in the district’s source waters have increased over the threshold.

"As mandated by Interior Health, the district is instituting a Boil Water Notice, effective immediately," she said.
