More gunfire in Surrey

More gunfire was reported in the Newton area of Surrey overnight.

RCMP remained on the scene early this morning following reports of shots fired in the area of 128th Street and 56th Avenue in the Panorama Ridge neighbourhood.

Reports of gunfire came in just before 1 a.m.

Police found evidence to support that shots had been fired, but no victims were located.

Officers are canvassing the neighbourhood and speaking with witnesses.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown, and the Surrey detachment's major crime unit is involved.

While not yet linked to an ongoing low-level turf war in the drug trade, Surrey has seen numerous shooting incidents during the past year pinned on rival gangs.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 or, CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca.
