A series of open houses on the Okanagan Rail Trail begins tonight.
The meetings will focus on the planning and design process for repurposing the old CN Rail line between Coldstream and Kelowna.
An inter-jurisdictional development team representing the communities involved is seeking public input on use of the corridor as a future recreation trail.
Residents are invited to review the Okanagan Rail Trail concept and provide feedback at four open houses:
- Monday, March 14, 4-6:30 p.m. at Oyama Community Hall, hosted by the District of Lake Country.
- Tuesday, March 15, 4-6:30 p.m. at Parkinson Recreation Centre, hosted by the City of Kelowna.
- Wednesday, March 16, 4-6 p.m. at Winfield Memorial Hall, hosted by the Okanagan Indian Band.
- Thursday, March 17, 4-6:30 p.m. at Coldstream Municipal Hall, hosted by the Regional District of North Okanagan.
Those unable to attend the meetings can provide feedback through an online survey until March 27 at getinvolved.kelowna.ca.
Input will be considered during the initial phase of trail development, and additional feedback will be retained for future reference.
The trail development plan is expected to go before the various councils for consideration later this spring.
