Run, skate, swim at Carnival

The Starting Block road race is one of the final events of this year's Vernon Winter Carnival.

Shake off winter rust with a 10 km run (or brisk 3 km run/walk) starting at Lavington Elementary at 10 a.m.

The Vernon Vipers and Queen and Princess Silver Star will be on the ice at the Toonie and a Tin Community Skate at Kal Tire Place. There will be face painting and a bouncy castle, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

The Jopo Swim at the Vernon Aquatic Centre is an afternoon of games, prizes and Mardi Gras fun, 1:30-4 p.m.

The final day of the 35th annual HollisWealth Over the Hill Downhill continues at Silver Star Mountain Resort.

At the Civic arena, the Coca-Cola Classic Peewee hockey tournament is on from 8 a.m.-10 p.m.

Ruth McGrath Dance continues free group lessons at 3011 28th Street, 4 p.m.
