SUV ablaze at mall

UPDATED: 10:35 A.M.

The SUV fire at Orchard Park Mall Friday night is believed to have been started by faulty electrical equipment in the vehicle.

Kelowna Fire Department's Platoon Cpt. Kelly Stephens said the fire began underneath the dash and spread into the passenger compartment, quickly overtaking the entire vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was charging a phone in the vehicle, and believes the charger may have started the blaze.

"Things are fine until they're not," Stephens said.

The vehicle was damaged beyond repair and was written off.
