Party on at carnival

Jack and Cheryl Gareb found themselves on the wrong side of the law Thursday, and they paid the price.

Jack, who manages the Schubert Centre, and his wife, Cheryl, were put in handcuffs and hauled off to 'jail' for crimes against humour by a pair of Carnival Cops.

The pair languished in the jail cell for a matter of minutes before their bail was posted and they could rejoin the Vernon Winter Carnival Senior Jopo House luncheon.

At the Vernon Atrium Hotel and Conference Centre, another Jopo House event was being held for a younger crowd who danced to the energetic and infectious sounds of Uptown 10.

The Coca-Cola Classic Peewee Hockey Tournament is underway at the Civic Arena.

Also taking place Thursday is UnWined Downtown, Dinner Theatre – Mardi Gras Mayhem and Ruth McGrath Dance is offering free lessons.

For a full list of events, see the carnival website.
