Change BC's Family Day?

I see on Castanet poll at this moment, over 50% of respondents think Family Day should be changed to align with Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario.  (Not to mention the USA's President's Day.)

The news articles say this is coming from the financial sector, being displeased with the markets being open across Canada and the US whilst BC is taking the day off.  Maybe, maybe not. But before everyone jumps the gun, consider another perspective.

Many provinces have their school's Spring Break at different times.  The reason - tourism/recreational/hospitality industries.  Holiday weekends are a boon to recreational facilities and the tourism sectors.  Can you imagine the line-ups for the lifts at Big White or Silver Star if BC'ers were off on the same day as Alberta/Sask and the Northwestern United States?  The unavailability of hotels rooms, dinner reservations, and the like?

By staggering our holiday weekend we are able to have more access to those activities that define the very reason for Family Day. And then the Okanagan can reap the reward of having all those frozen Albertans and others coming here the very next weekend to spend their hard-earned dollars,  instead of going elsewhere because everything was booked, and the line-ups were miles long.

Consider another perspective.
