Arrest in strange hit and run

RCMP in Pemberton have made an arrest in a bizarre hit-and-run that happened on the weekend.

“Whistler Pemberton RCMP have located the vehicle and parties involved in the hit and run incident. A 35-year-old Port Douglas male has been arrested in relation to this incident,” police said in a press release.

At 11:15 a.m. Saturday, RCMP received a report that a truck had collided with a pedestrian on Highway 99 just south of Portage Road.

“The report was that a pickup truck had hit a pedestrian on the shoulder of the road,” said Sgt. Knapton, Operations NCO for Whistler RCMP. “The driver then stopped and got the pedestrian into the truck and drove away.”

One of the witnesses was able to get a photo of the pickup as it departed.

Police did not release details on the victim or the name of the driver.

RCMP are still asking anyone who witnessed this incident to contact them at 604-894-6126, or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477)
