No harm, no foul

UPDATE: Feb. 8

ORIGINAL: Feb. 4

Kamloops RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious male near Marion Schilling School on Wednesday.

Staff Sgt. Edward Preto said the man apparently approached a six-year-old girl about 1 p.m. on Park Drive.

The child was a short distance away from her mother when the man, walking a dog, approached and spoke to her about finding her parents, allowing her to pet his dog.

When the mother approached them, the little girl ran back to her mother. The man then ran away from the school in the direction of Valleyview Drive.

The child was not harmed in the interaction.

The man is described as Caucasian, in his mid-20s, with a slim build, five feet nine inches tall, with "buzz cut" hair and acne on his face. He was wearing a dark-coloured zip-up hoodie and jeans.

The dog was described as similar to a German shepherd and about six months old. It was on a leash.

Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) to remain anonymous.
