Road Warriors clip Eagles

Make it two-for-two on their current three game road trip.

The West Kelowna Warriors scored four unanswered goals in the second period and held on for a 6-4 win over the Surrey Eagles Friday.

Connor Sodergren had a goal and two assists to pace the Warriors with singles going to Kristian Blumenschein, Rylan Yaremko, Kyler Hope, Brett Mennear and Reed Gunville with his first in the BC Hockey League scored for the Warriors.

Bryan Nelson, Garrett Forster and Jonathan Desbiens each chipped in with a pair of assists.

The Warriors trailed 2--1 after one but poured it on in the second.

Blumenscheim got the ball rolling in the middle frame, tying the game at 2-2 just 31 seconds in.

Power-play goals from Yaremko and Hope before the mid-point of the period put the Warriors up by two before Mennear stretched the lead two minutes after Hope's tally.

Gunville, second on the team with 17 assists, finally potted his first early in the third to put the game out of reach.

The Eagles scored a pair of late goals to make the final score look a little more respectable.

Aidan Doak, filling in for injured backup Stephen Heslop, turned aside 18 shots for his first BCHL victory.

Former Warrior netminder Forbes Ploszaj stopped just 18 of 23 shots before being pulled following Mennear's tally.

The win keeps the Warriors three points in back of second place Salmon Arm in the Interior Division.

The Warriors conclude their three game road trip Saturday night in Langley.

They return home to host Trail Tuesday and Cowichan Valley Friday.
