Candle causes RV fire

What was once an RV is now a smoking frame, after it caught fire Wednesday morning in Glenmore.

The RV located in the Orchard Valley RV Park on Rojem Road was fully engulfed when crews arrived before 11 a.m.

A large plume of black smoke could be seen from several points around the city.

Platoon Capt. Kelly Stephens attributed much of the black smoke to fiberglass and other components of the RV.

Crews were able to quickly put the fire out, but the RV is destroyed – a nearby shed also sustained some damage.

The single resident of the RV was home when the fire ignited and was able to get himself out before it was fully engulfed.

He reportedly suffered minor smoke inhalation in the incident and has been taken to hospital as a precaution.

Stephens said an overturned candle caused the fire.
