This December, the Arts Council of the Central Okanagan (ARTSCO) is presenting an outstanding painting workshop to the Central Okanagan community. Taught by world-renowned painter, Kristy Gordon, students will learn classical techniques for figure painting.
“It is certainly very exciting to have someone of Kristy Gordon’s caliber coming to Kelowna,” Katie Brennan, Executive Director of ARTSCO explains.
Gordon has ties to the community and grew up in Nelson, BC. She currently makes her home in New York City. Gordon has nine years of experience teaching and conducting painting workshops, lectures and classes throughout North America. Her own paintings are a frank and intimate reflection of her curiosity about other people, transformations and self-discovery.
With a focus on painting the nude figure using a limited colour pallet, students will develop the ability to perceive tonal values and control temperature variations while maintaining colour harmony.
This workshop will be held in the Ellis Art Studios located at 1021 Ellis St, a great space with big windows and impeccable lighting perfect for painting. Participants will learn how to achieve a better likeness as well as how to paint convincing flesh tones. Each day will include a painting demonstration, discussion and individual instruction at the easel.
This workshop will run over 3 days from December 17th to 19th from 10 - 4pm each day. This workshop is available for students of all abilities.
