Workers dodge truck crash

Two workers have plenty to be thankful for this Thanksgiving.

The two men narrowly escaped when an out-of-control truck crashed through the wall of a house they were renovating.

Michael Stadther and a co-worker were working at the University Drive home when they heard a loud crash.

“Shortly after the boom, a truck came flying through both these gates,” Stadther told CTV. “We knew the rate of speed it was coming through the gates, it was coming through the house. So we just took off outside the door.”

The men ran out a side door in time to see the truck crash through the wall, into the room they had been working in.

“I would have been pinned by the truck … I have a lot to be thankful for.”

A witness told CTV the truck lost control, jumped a median and hit a car before smashing into the house.

The occupants of the truck – which had an N sign denoting a new driver - were uninjured.

It was raining heavily at the time of the crash. Police are investigating the incident.
