City of Vernon staff admit another flag pole is needed at Cenotaph Park to represent all ten provinces and three territories.

At present, Alberta's flag is not flying, according to an employee in the operations department.

“This is likely a result of the addition of the new territory Nunavut in 1999,” reads a report destined for city council's next meeting on Monday.

Staff point out that vandalism in the downtown often lead to flags going missing. Two were stolen over the summer.

City workers are reviewing the price to put up a new flag pole in the park as well as three new poles outside city hall. No territorial flags are flying there.
