Karaoke cop takes the mic

An RCMP officer took the microphone last weekend at a pub in Kamloops and gave the crowd some entertainment they won’t soon forget.

Const. Kevin Roy was on shift patrolling Central Station Pub during karaoke night, when he decided he wanted to show off his own chops.

A video of Roy singing “Superman” by Five For Fighting has since gone viral on Facebook, garnering almost 2,000 shares by Wednesday afternoon.

“I’ve never seen that before in my life. I’m so glad that a cop would do that,” Cora MacClaren, the woman who took the video, told CTV.

MacClaren said when Roy wasn’t singing, he was talking to people around the bar, “making sure they stay out of trouble, making sure they were OK.”

An RCMP spokesperson said the RCMP is pleased with the reaction to the video.

"We are really fortunate to have that great support from our community every day," Const. Jason Epp told CTV in an email.
