A fatal collision between two vehicles in Kamloops has closed the intersection of Highway 1 and Oriole Road in Valleyview.

The incident occurred about 12:20 p.m., and police are confirming at least one person has died at the scene.

There will be partial road closures for several hours while the crash is investigated.

Traffic is being affected eastbound on Highway 1. 

Police are asking local drivers to find alternative routes and to avoid this area to help reduce traffic congestion.
