Smoke clears - for now

You can breathe easy – for now.

Rain Saturday in the Southern Interior has markedly improved air quality in the region.

Environment Canada's website is reporting an air quality rating of 2, or low risk, in the Central Okanagan this morning. It had climbed as high as 23 during the past week, due to smoke from local and Washington state wildfires.

However, that rating is forecast to increase to a rating of 5 through the day and into Monday.

That forecast is the same for the North and South Okanagan, which are both currently also at a rating of 2.

Kamloops is forecast to remain at an air quality rating of 2 through Monday.

Air quality elsewhere in the province remains at that level or lower.
