Rash of theft from vehicles

Kamloops RCMP are looking for a thief or thieves who went on a crime spree Monday night.

According to police more than 20 reports of theft from vehicles were reported in the Upper Sahali and Aberdeen areas of Kamloops.

Const. Jason Epp said it did not appear the thieves were targeting any specific vehicles or items.

But, the thefts do appear to be crimes of opportunity where items were visible inside the vehicle. Windows were broken to gain access.

"Items taken from vehicles included wallets, laptop computers, gas and credit cards, GPS and electronic devices and cameras," said Epp.

"All of the items taken are things that were easy to grab and conceal."

Epp said police are reminding people about the hazards of leaving items inside vehicles.

"Most theft from vehicles are preventable when people remember to take valuables out of their vehicles, even if parked in their driveway for a short amount of time."

Anyone with information concerning these thefts is asked to contact Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) to remain anonymous.
