Before heading out on a cross-Canada tour, up-and-coming country singer Dean Brody played a more intimate venue this weekend – a wedding in Vernon.

Shane Melenko was at the lakeside Chapman wedding and was impressed the country crooner was hired to play.

So were a lot of other people who began to congregate near the wedding.

“His songs get tons of radio play,” said Melenko. “It (wedding) was out on the water, and a lot of boats were pulling up and listening to the music.

"It's amazing how many people came by because they knew his music.”

Brody is on tour with Paul Brandt and will be playing Prospera Place Sept. 26.
