B&E couple caught on tape

Revelstoke RCMP is currently investigating two break and enters that occurred at the same time on July 31 – by what appears to be a young male and female duo.  

According to Cpl. Thomas Blakney, the suspects broke in the Rona Building Supply store and the Revelstoke Bottle Deport on Cartier Street at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Friday.  

“The culprits gained access to the bottle depot and once inside stole approximately $30 in cash,” says Blakney.

“The culprits then gained access to the building supply store by cutting a hole in the perimeter fence and once inside the compound, smashed a large window, providing them access inside the store.”

Blakney says once they were inside they ransacked the building and broke into a safe.

“They stole an undetermined about of cash and then stole several tools, which included Makita brand tools.”

RCMP say the duo also attempted to destroy the video surveillance footage by extracting the hard drive from the computer. damaging it.

“However, RCMP Forensic Identification Services attended and managed to obtain digital images of the culprits as well as seized additional evidence,” says Blakney. “The culprits are believed to have fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.”

RCMP say one of the suspects is described as a Caucasian man wearing shorts, gloves, a dark hoodie with a white t-shirt underneath, running shoes, a blue cap and white glasses.

The second suspect is described as a Caucasian woman wearing a light blue hoodie with dark knee-length pants, gloves and shoes.

Blakney says while there was no signs of damage to the bottle depot, the cost of the stolen tools combined with the extensive damage to the Rona are estimated in the thousands of dollars.

The Revelstoke RCMP is now seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects.

“Please take a close look at the culprits as someone may have observed the couple in the Revelstoke area prior to the break and enters,” says Blakney.
