Naramata grass fire

UPDATE: 7:04 a.m.

Fire Chief Tony Trovao says the fire was caused by people in the backyard shooting pellets at some sort of metals target.

This caused some sparks, which unknown to them, started smouldering in the dry grass, catching the bank behind the house on fire.

The Naramata Fire Department responded to a grass fire on Wiseman Place around 4:45 p.m., Saturday afternoon.

The fire on a hillside behind a home was quickly extinguished before it could spread to any houses in the area.

There are a number of homes on the street where the fire started.

The cause of the blaze is believed to be someone in the neighbourhood target shooting.

The cause has not been confirmed by the fire department. Castanet will provide more details as they come available.
