Power has now been restored to nearly 3,000 customers in downtown Vernon.
According to BC Hydro's web site, power returned about 4:24 Friday afternoon.
Power was knocked out an hour before as a result of a single vehicle crash on 32 Avenue.
One witness said she saw a man running from the area following two large bangs.
A power pole was seen sheared in half.
Much of downtown Vernon is without power this afternoon as a result of a motor vehicle incident.
According to BC Hydro, nearly 3,000 customer are affected.
The affected area is:
- South of 39 Avenue
- North of 15 Avenue
- West of Bodwell Road
- East of 37 Street
Power went out shortly before 3:30 p.m.
There is no estimated time for a resumption of service.
