Three-team BCHL trade

The West Kelowna Warriors and Vernon Vipers were involved in a three-team, three-player B.C. Hockey League trade.

The Warriors sent overage defenceman Mac Ferner to the Vipers in exchange for 19-year-old blueliner Mitch Meek.

The Warriors then sent Meek to the Prince George Spruce Kings for the "BCHL-CHL listing rights" to 20-year-old forward Luke Harrison.

Harrison, a native of West Kelowna, has spent five seasons in the Western Hockey League with Chilliwack, Victoria and currently the Kamloops Blazers. In 179 games, he has amassed 17 goals and 30 points, including a career best 12 goals and 23 points in 69 games last year.

The Blazers currently have six 20-year-old players on their roster and, per league rules, can only have three once the season begins.

The Warriors took advantage of that in plucking captain Andrew Johnson from the WHL last season.

Meantime, Ferner, who spent two-plus seasons with the Warriors, will be reunited with his father, Vipers head coach Mark Ferner.

In 101 games with the Warriors, Ferner had three goals and 17 assists and 109 minutes in penalties.

Meek had six goals and 16 points in 50 games with the Vipers last season.
