Homicide on Black Mtn.

UPDATE 10 a.m.

A terrifying story is being shared by neighbours as police scour the scene of a homicide in Black Mountain.

Multiple sources in the neighbourhood are telling Castanet a man named Amar lived in the home on Feedham Road with his girlfriend.

They report the two were tied up during a violent home invasion early Monday. The unidentified girlfriend was reportedly able to escape to a neighbour's, where she showed up terrified and tied in zap straps. Those neighbours, who were too terrified to speak with Castanet, untied her and called police for help.

Although unconfirmed by police, multiple sources at the scene say Amar was beaten to death in the home invasion. Police are using the term "targeted homicide," but have not released further details.

Neighbours say the girlfriend was taken to hospital.

One neighbour, who said her name was Elsie, says she was awoken at 3 a.m. by sirens and barking dogs. Her neighbours told her “Amar is dead” and explained how the girlfriend had escaped to their home for help.

Friends of Amar were in shock. They say he was "a really great guy" who loved old trucks and vehicles and spent most of his time working outside on his cars.

His friends were also concerned that Amar's pet dog was missing from the scene.

According to an internet search a Amardeep Singh Ahluwalia lives at that home. A court search shows he has just one past traffic violation.

Police have taped off the home, as well as a garage on the property.

“Kelowna RCMP are currently investigating the death as a homicide,” says Const. Steve Holmes.

They are asking anyone with information to contact the Kelowna RCMP.  A tip line has been set up at 250-470-6236 or call CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-5477.
