Cadets swarm into town

The cadets are back.

As has been a summer tradition for decades – hundreds of cadets descended upon Vernon over the weekend to begin their summer training.

More than 850 army, sea and air cadets arrived at the Vernon Cadet Training Centre (VCTC) to begin a summer of challenging and fun experiences that are not available to most teenagers.

Some will only be in Vernon for two weeks, others for three, but the majority of cadets from Western Canada will spend six weeks in the North Okanagan.

While at the VCTC, the teens will participate on a wide range of activities, both military and civilian.
