Fatal motorcycle crash

A motorcycle accident claimed the life of a male rider near Kamloops Thursday afternoon.

RCMP responded to the crash about 1:30 p.m., along with Kamloops Fire Rescue and B.C. Ambulance paramedics, on Highway 5A at Cardew Hill, in Knutsford.

A northbound motorcycle with a single rider was travelling with another motorcycle when the operator failed to negotiate a sharp curve as he was riding up Cardew Hill.

The motorcycle went off the road and over an embankment.

The deceased rider is from the Vancouver area, said RCMP Sgt. Mike Pears.

A collision analyst gathered evidence, and speed is said to be a likely contributing factor in the crash.

Police and the B.C. Coroners Services continue to investigate the accident.
