The Canadian dollar and Toronto Stock Exchange were both showing strength Tuesday morning.
The loonie traded at 80.41 cents US, up 0.63 of a U.S. cent from Monday's close.
Meanwhile, the S&P/TSX composite index recovered from an early-morning dip, rising 46.19 points to 15,120.32.
The Dow Jones industrial average was down 28.53 points at 18,011.84, the Nasdaq index fell 8.19 points to 5,074.74, and the S&P 500 declined 3.41 points to 2,108.32.
On the commodity markets, the July crude contract was up 47 cents at US$60.67 a barrel and August gold contract rose $3.60 to US$1,192.30 an ounce.
