Warehouse fire rages

UPDATE

A preliminary investigation into a fire at a Vancouver warehouse has found the blaze was not suspicious.

Nearly 60 firefighters from three detachments fought the blaze at the mattress recycling facility Wednesday night.

The building partially collapsed in the inferno.

The business was closed at the time and no one was inside.

About 45 staff are now said to be out of work.

Firefighters battled a serious warehouse fire in South Vancouver that sent plumes of smoke over the city, Wednesday evening.

The two-alarm blaze was reported in the area of Sherbrooke Street and Southeast Marine Drive about 6:30 p.m.

Flames were visible shooting through the roof of the building, said to be a mattress recycling warehouse.

No injuries have been reported, and it's unclear whether the warehouse was open at the time of the fire.

Part of Marine Drive was shut down so firefighters could run a fire hose across the street, and motorists are advised to avoid the area until the scene is clear.
