Car clubs revved up

With the warm, sunny weather having arrived, car season is officially here.

The Okanagan will host the Okanagan Valley Miata Club's 11th annual Topless Sun Run and the Vintage Thunderbird Club International's 2015 International Convention this weekend.

The “Topless” part of the Sun Run refers to the convertible nature of the cars and not to the tendency of Miata owners to show-off skin.

The Miata event will be held in Vernon, and will involve a drive through the beautiful back roads of the northern Okanagan on Saturday. Lunch will be at the O'Keefe Historic Ranch in Vernon. Sunday will include a tour through Davison Orchards Country Village, and a drive down Westside Road. More information can be found at the Sun Run's website here.

The Thunderbird convention has its Parade of Classics on Saturday in Kelowna, followed by a winery tour.

The Parade of Classics will be the club's 23rd annual show and shine. An awards banquet will be held that night. On Sunday, the Thunderbird crowd will also drive out to O'Keefe Historic Ranch near Vernon, for brunch.

Information on the Thunderbird weekend can be found here.
