Lucky miss in crash

Vernon RCMP responded to a single-vehicle crash at Highway 97 and College Way, Monday afternoon.

The northbound vehicle crossed three lanes of highway traffic, narrowly missing two oncoming semi-trucks, before hitting the ditch on the east side of the road, where it rolled onto its roof.

The grey Toyota Highlander had two people in it.

Vernon Fire Rescue used the Jaws of Life to extract the occupants, who were both transported to Vernon Jubilee Hospital.

The 54-year-old female driver and her nine-year-old passenger from Kelowna were bruised up, but were otherwise uninjured.
