Wineries go to the dogs

The event put on by the Lakeshore Wine Route wineries and the SPCA, was meant to celebrate wine, great food, good dogs and to raise funds for a good cause.

On Saturday afternoon, dogs and their owners were invited to each of the four Lakeshore Wine Route wineries, CedarCreek, St. Hubertus, Summerhill and Tantalus.

“This has been one of favourite days at the winery actually,” said Summerhill sales manager Tom Walmsley. “I really miss my dogs back home and it is great to have so many dogs to play with.”

Owners were greeted with wine and food, while the guests of honour got to take part in some special treats and fun activities such as agility training, professional photos in the vineyard and more.

Volunteers from the local SPCA were also on hand and each winery to greet the dogs and provide information for dog owners.

The SPCA hopes to turn Unleashed into an annual tradition.

All wine purchases made during the event went to support the SPCA.
