One man is in hospital with what police describe as serious injuries after he was stabbed at a home on Elliott Road in West Kelowna.

The entire fourplex at the corner of Elliott and Solar roads is taped off, and there are a number of RCMP investigators on the scene.

Police have taken one man into custody and say the house and the area are well known to them.

"This area is known to the police. I can't speak to any particular address but we are familiar with some of the residents," said Sgt. Mona Kauffeld.

Both the victim and the alleged suspect are middle aged. The reason for the stabbing has not yet been determined.

A police dog was brought into the area and was seen sniffing around an orchard across the street from the residence.
