Bus exchange reopening

The $5.6 million Queensway transit exchange will reopen to transit users, coinciding with summer transit service changes this Sunday.

The temporary exchange area on Ellis Street will cease being served by transit.

Features of the improved Queensway exchange include a unique, all-weather wood structure above the existing transit island platform and new transit-only access to and from Ellis Street with enhanced pedestrian crossings.

BC Transit’s summer service schedule is in effect starting Sunday with select routes seasonally discontinued, including #13 Quail Ridge and #6 Glenmore/UBCO and the discontinuation of #4 Pandosy/UBCO effective June 29.

Service will resume in September.

BC Transit and its local government partners in the Kelowna region are working together to match service levels with customer demand. During the slower, summer season transit service hours are reduced so that added service hours are available during peak ridership from September to June.

The City of Kelowna thanks residents, businesses and commuters for their patience during the construction period.
