Dirtbiker back safe

UPDATE APRIL 23:

In a happy ending, a missing Vernon dirt biker has returned home safely.

RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says the man came home on his own volition this morning around 10:15 a.m., and does not appear to be suffering from any injuries.

While police are not certain why the man disappeared they are investigating that now.

The Vernon RCMP would like to thank the dedicated Vernon Search and Rescue members who searched the Commonage area until late last night and were out again this morning.

ORIGINAL APRIL 22:

Vernon RCMP are asking for your assistance in locating a missing man.

Police were made aware of the situation about 10 a.m. Wednesday morning. The family of a 25-year-old man called to say he had not returned home after venturing out on a motorbike ride Tuesday.

The missing man was operating a grey and white Pitster.

Family members say he left about 4 p.m. Tuesday. He was wearing a brown shirt, jeans and a black baseball cap. He was not wearing a helmet.

"His family is very concerned as he is not a very experienced rider," said RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk.

"He told his family he was going riding in the Commonage area however he has not returned. The family say it is out of the norm for him not to come home last evening."

Police are asking anyone who might have seen a person matching this description riding a dirt bike yesterday from the Mission hill area to the Commonage as far as Predator Ridge to please call the detachment so we can follow up on it.
