Dozens of families turned out Saturday in an attempt to break the world record for most cloth diapers changed at the same time.
The event took place at St. Davids Presbyterian Church and was hosted by Tidy Tushees Diaper Service.
The Great Cloth Diaper Change saw 37 babies changed in Kelowna, in addition to another 300 locations around the world in 16 different countries.
Cloth diapers have come a long way in the past ten years, and organizers of the event hoped to raise awareness for cloth diapering, while creating some additional buzz and excitement too.
The world record was set last year with 8,301 cloth diapers changed simultaneously at 182 locations in 15 countries. Official results for this year will be posted next week when all evidence has been verified.
Each year, billions of disposable diapers are dumped in landfills where they will take hundreds of years to decompose. The Great Cloth Diaper Change is an eye-opening experience for thousands of modern parents who choose to use a more planet-friendly alternative or want to know more about their eco-friendly diapering options.
It doesn’t hurt that cloth diapering can also save cash-strapped families a substantial amount of money too.
