Road gold in BCHL final

The home team has yet to celebrate a win following then opening four games of the BC Hockey League final.

The Penticton Vees continued that trend Tuesday night in Nanaimo with a convincing 8-5 win to knot the best-of-seven series at two games apiece.

Game five is set for Penticton Thursday with game six back in Nanaimo Friday night.

After back-to-back 2-1 overtime games the offences finally got into high gear in game four.

Rookie Tyson Jost's first of two third-period tallies proved to be the winner but after Vees 15-year-old affiliate Jordy Bellerive made it 7-3 Penticton, Clippers forwards Jake Jackson and Brendan Taylor scored in quick succession to make it interesting.

That would be as close as it would get. Jost added an empty-netter with 33 seconds left to ice the game for Penticton.

The Vees' Steen Cooper opened the scoring in the first but Nanaimo held a 2-1 lead after 20 minutes with Devin Brosseau and Sheldon Rempal replying for the Clips.

The Vees scored four-straight goals in the middle frame, including Cooper's second, to take control of the game.

Once again, Penticton held the edge in shots on goal firing 41 pucks on Nanaimo's Guillaume Decelles. Hunter Miska made 33 saves in the Penticton crease for the win.

If a seventh game is needed it would be played at the South Okanagan Events Centre Sunday.
