College, Faculty reach tentative agreement

Okanagan College Media Release

Okanagan College and the Okanagan College Faculty Association, representing approximately 255 professors have reached a tentative local agreement.

The two parties reached the agreement March 28 following an agreement in early February between the Post-Secondary Employers Association and with faculty of several institutions represented by the Federation of Post-Secondary Educators of BC (FPSE). Okanagan College, Camosun College, College of New Caledonia, College of the Rockies, Douglas College, North Island College, Northwest Community College and Selkirk College were among those institutions whose faculty were represented by FPSE in the provincial settlement.

The tentative provincial template settlement is for a five-year term beginning April 1, 2014. It includes a 5.5 per cent wage increase over the five years with potential for additional increases if the B.C. economy exceeds the annual forecasts set by the Economic Forecast Council during the last four years of the agreement.

Dates for the College Board of Governors and the Faculty Association to consider the tentative settlement have yet to be determined.
