New chef at the Eldorado

Hotel Eldorado's new executive chef knows his way around the kitchen at the popular Kelowna destination.

He ought to; he held the title before, from 2010 to 2012.

Stewart Sharp returns to the boutique hotel following a complete kitchen renovation.

"We are delighted to welcome Stewart back to the Eldorado,” said Thomas Killingsworth, the hotel's vice-president and general manager. “Not only does he possess the excellent culinary skills and team attributes that we are looking for, he knows the hotel and understands the market well. That makes Stewart the perfect fit.”

After his first stint as executive chef, Stewart worked with flood relief victims of the Siksika Nation in Alberta, during the devastating 2013 Calgary flood.

A graduate of St. Andrews Community College in New Brunswick, he is a Red Seal certified chef, apprenticing under Swiss chef Boris Müller at The Palate in Fredericton. After college, Sharp worked at the Sheraton Fredericton (later the Delta), where he cooked for the Queen and Prince Phillip during the 2002 royal visit. He also cooked at Brewbakers in Fredericton.

As a member of the Canadian Culinary Federation, Sharp was selected to compete in Canada’s first series of The Next Great Chef, which premiered in 2005.

“While taking part in the reality TV show was an enjoyable experience, I much prefer cooking in a team environment,” said Sharp.
