Spaghetti bridges are back

Pasta engineers will test their creations Friday at Okanagan College as the annual spaghetti bridge building competition returns for its 32nd year.

The noodle-splintering action gets underway at 10:30 a.m. with the testing of team bridges. The popular heavyweight competition begins at 12:30 p.m. in the lecture theatre as the structures are loaded to see how much weight they can bear before shattering.

This year’s competition will include 17 heavyweight entries.

Meanwhile, Skills Canada will hold its B.C. trades and technologies regional competition on campus throughout the day.

The main hub for activity will be the atrium of the Centre for Learning, and events will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. More than 500 elementary and high school students will attend.
