Rising gas - get over it

So gas has gone from $1.09 to $1.15. Wow are the angry letters going to come forth in droves to media outlets across the valley. But we all get it. Yes, yes the government and the gas companies are working had in hand to rip us off. Big deal,  what else is new? And yes, my truck did laugh at me today when I put $20- in the tank and YES I did pray that would be enough to get me home.

But seriously people - the anger that spews out when the gas rate goes up infuriates me! Why is there such aggression over an ages old process that has not changed and will not change? People - can that anger over gas prices not be directed at something more important? Let's get angry over low incomes. Let's get angry over healthcare's hideous wait times for surgery. Let's get angry over homelessness, domestic violence and rising drug and gang problems.

Let's stop worrying and distressing over a few cents (literally) at the pump and spend that aggression aimed towards something worth getting angry about! Why waste any more time on such futile endeavours and instead, get angry over something that you can change and make a difference on.

My condolences to all the editors out there who are about to get blasted with the same "angry over gas" letters.

Bethany Wright
