Vernon RCMP are searching for a dark-coloured Honda after a dangerous situation unfolded early Monday.
About 3:35 a.m., officers noticed a vehicle in downtown Vernon in the area of 29th Street and 30th Avenue that was making suspicious lane changes.
They attempted to pull the vehicle over near 27th Street and 39th Avenue, but instead of stopping, it took off at a high rate of speed.
The officers did not pursue, but a second officer was nearby and kept a lookout for the vehicle.
The driver of the Honda drove directly at the marked police vehicle, and the officer had to take evasive action to avoid being hit. At the last moment, the suspect driver swerved.
After the second encounter the suspect vehicle was not seen again.
Police are following up on a possible plate number for the vehicle, said Vernon RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk.
