Time to book your camp site

It’s finally that time again.

The time to dust off that tent, find those sleeping bags and make plans to pack the car and head out into the great wide open.

That’s because the province’s camping reservation system, Discover Camping, opens for business on March 15 at 9 a.m.

The website allows vacationers to reserve a campsite in many provincial parks, up to three months in advance, or bookings can also be made through the call centre at 1-800-689-9025.

Up to three reservations can be made during each transaction, and the interactive site also displays the availability, layout and amenities of 115 campgrounds in 99 provincial parks.

New for the 2015 camping season are sites in Summit Lake, Juniper Lake, Whiskers Point and Kootenay Lake provincial parks. More campsites are also available in Mount Robson and Kentucky Alleyne provincial parks.

While some of the campgrounds at Discover Camping are 100 per cent reservable, others are booked on a first-come basis. Bookings for group sites are available up to 12 months in advance, and there is a non-refundable reservation charge of $6 per night, up to a maximum of $18 (plus tax) per party, per campsite.
