PA connection leads Rockets

A pair of former Prince Albert Raiders led the way for the Kelowna Rocket in a 6-3 win in Lethbridge Friday.

Gage Quinney and Leon Draisaitl, obtained in separate pre and post Christmas trades, each scored twice as the Rockets got back into the win column after dropping a 2-1 decision in Edmonton Wednesday.

Draisaitl also had an assist as did Josh Morrissey, the centrepiece of the deal that also brought Quinney to Kelowna.

Justin Kirkland had a goal and two assists while Madison Bowey also scored for Kelowna.

Rourke Chartier, who lost the goal scoring lead to Cole Sanford earlier in the evening had a pair of assists.

Kelowna led 5-0 in the second and built it to 6-1 midway through the third before the Hurricanes scored a pair of meaningless late goals.

Michael Herringer stopped 22 of 25 shot he faced including a second period penalty shot off the stick of Jamal Watson to improve his record to 4-0.

All three Rockets goaltenders have seen action during this four game road trip.

Number one Jackson Whistle is expected to get the call Saturday when the Rockets conclude the road trip in Kootenay.

The Rockets return home to face the Kamloops Blazers next Friday in the home half of a home-and-home set between the interior rivals.
