A whole lot of skiing santas

This season, Big White Ski Resort once again challenged all skiers and snowboarders to get into the spirit of the festive season by dressing like Santa or Mrs. Claus for their day on the slopes.

The first 30 people who arrived in the Village Centre Mall dressed in full Santa gear received a free day lift ticket for their efforts.

After a few group photos in front of the Big White Chair, everyone rode down Hummingbird at 9 a.m. to arrive at the Ridge Rocket and say hi to Loose Moose and Lucy Moose.

All participants enjoyed 20cm of fresh snow, mild temperatures, 80 open runs and 13 open lifts across the mountain.

Later in the day, Big White guests were also able to meet up with Santa in the Village Centre Mall, where he was handing out candy canes and posing for free Santa photos.

Santa will be there every day until Christmas Eve, from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., and our Big White photographer is always on hand to snap and email across a commemorative Santa photo.

Big White also has a jam-packed schedule this week for families to enjoy when they’re not shredding the slopes.

The biggest event will be Christmas Eve where guests can expect an evening filled with fireworks, parades and a special visit by Santa on his horse drawn sleigh.

Snow lovers of all ages can enjoy the crisp mountain air, cozy up with hot chocolate and stroll through the Village to take in all the twinkling lights.

Families can also sign up for the family torchlight parade, which involves skiing down a green run together with glow sticks.
