Fundraiser for at-risk youth

The Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs are hosting an online auction to help support youth at risk in the community.

This year's auction is bigger and better than last year, with a variety of items for everyone.

Starting Nov. 24 the online auction goes live and includes the following prizes:

  • Westjet Voucher for two anywhere Westjet flies
  • Accommodations at the Delta Grand Hotel and Tinhorn Creek Vineyards Guesthouse
  • Golf at the Harvest Golf Club or with the Head Pro at Sunset Ranch
  • Beverage Center from Coast Wholesale Appliances
  • Leadership Training package from Crestcom
  • Kelowna Rockets Club Night Out
  • As well as over 50 other items

"We are so thankful for the donations of Okanagan businesses," stated event coordinator Richelle Lawrence in a release. "With their contribution we are hoping that the auction items will help us reach our goal of raising $10,000 to help support our programs and services being offered to our youth at risk who need a hand up once in a while."

The proceeds this year will go to Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs Jaycees Downtown Youth Centre.

The Youth Centre provides those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness a safe place to meet their basic needs.

The centre is a necessary first step in the transition from homelessness to a full independent life, and the programs allow young people to focus on their abilities, develop new friendships, build self-confidence and self-esteem.

"We help them develop a more positive outlook and give them the tools to accomplish anything they set their mind and effort to. It is only with the generous support of our communities that this is possible," Lawrence said.

So if you are looking for a great gift for a family member, want to offer some training to your team, or are looking to travel and have some fun in the next while, try visiting this website to bid on or purchase an item from the online auction.

You will need to register on the site to participate, but it's easy and the auction runs until November 30, so don’t miss out.

The online auction is an opportunity to make a difference to young people in the community.
