Multiple dead babies found

Update Oct. 22

Police say they have charged a woman following the discovery of several dead infants in a Winnipeg storage unit.

Police say Andrea Giesbrecht, who is 40, faces six charges of concealing a body.

Police say Giesbrecht is also known as Andrea Naworynski.

Workers were taking inventory of a delinquent storage locker on Monday when they found the remains of what police believed were three or four infants.

Police had little information Tuesday and said it wasn't clear how the babies died, how old they were or even if they were full term.

Autopsies are being done and more information is expected today.

Original story Oct. 21

Winnipeg police say they have discovered the remains of as many as four dead infants in a city storage locker.

They say officers made the discovery Monday in a commercial part of Winnipeg's northwest.

Const. Eric Hofley says the victims appear to be very young and could be newborns.

He says the remains were so decomposed, it's not clear if police are dealing with three or four bodies.

Police were called by the storage locker company due to "suspicious circumstances."

Hofley says autopsies are being conducted and police can't say how the infants died.
