A smoking barbecue caused a four storey apartment building to be evacuated Thursday night. 

Just after 9 p.m. emergency crews responded to a fire alarm at 3115 de Montreuil Court off KLO road in Kelowna.

Neighbours to the unit apparently saw smoke coming from under the door and pulled the alarm thinking a fire was inside. It turned out to be a smoky barbecue.

Four fire trucks responded as well as RCMP. KLO was reduced to single lane traffic for a time but after fire crews spoke with the cook in question, everyone was allowed back inside.
